The Majestic Theatre Education Program is designed to offer the highest quality theatrical instruction and productions for schools and the community. Nearly a thousand students participate in the Majestic Education Program each year. Majestic Education Classes are offered in 3-10 week terms and "School's Out" Classes during the school year and 1-5 week day camps in summer. Classes are curriculum-based and are designed to be taken consecutively for a complete theatre education.

Majestic Glee! Style Summer Camp                  $150/Two Weeks

Monday Through Friday  9:00pm - 4:00

June 21st through July 2nd, 2010

Two age groups: grades 4-6 & grades 7-9

 

This class is designed for the young students who express an interest in movement and dance, to music, and with basic theater skills training. The program will be developed along a theme resulting in a musical review at the end of the camp.  The theme for our musical revue is going to be "Friendship". The focus of the camp will be on how to create a story with song and dance.  

 

Majestic Theatre Management welcomes Instructor Katie Stevenson who will be leading the class.  Katie Stevenson has had a successful career in the arts through performing, directing, and teaching. Her performance experience includes the role of Dorabella in Cosi Fan Tutte with American Singers Opera Project in North Carolina, 2nd Touriere in Suor Angelica with the Anchorage Opera, the cover for Mercedes in Carmen with the Anchorage Opera, and The Secretary in The Consul with Halifax Summer Opera Workshop in Nova Scotia. She has been in the Anchorage Opera Chorus for 4 seasons, and was a Studio Artist for Anchorage Opera this past season. She has performed concerts and musical theatre scenes with the Bel Canto Singers of Alaska, and has often appeared as a soloist in the Messiah with the Anchorage Concert Chorus.

For the past 5 years she has worked as the music and drama teacher at Pacific Northern Academy, a K-8th grade private school in Anchorage, Alaska. In addition to teaching music, choir, and drama classes, she directed all-school musicals and concerts including The Music Man, The King and I, Willy Wonka, and Cinderella. She has taught private lessons in voice and piano for many years and is the secretary for the Alaska Chapter of NATS. A native Oregonian, Ms. Stevenson has a B.M. degree in vocal performance from Portland State University.
