Improv Classes at The Majestic Theatre
Classes held at in The Community Room
Tuesdays at 7:30PM
Class Description:
The word improv can bring on feelings of on the spot choices and quick witted comedy, but improv is more than that. Made nationally popular by the television show “Who’s Line Is It Anyways,” the standard short form of improvisational theatre is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the possibility of what improv can do. The role improvisational theatre plays in our everyday lives is extensive, though hidden, and it is something we already use. In this program we will take these everyday, already known skills and hone them into a well stocked “tool kit” essential to every actor and wonderful for communication for everyday use. From the “just thinking about it and want to watch” to the 7 year veteran, this improv program is for you.
This program is designed in 2 parts, both to take part in the same day.
The first part (7:30pm to 8:15pm) will consist of improv games, exercises and playing. This is where games are learned and those tools are made, shined and polished.
The second part (8:30pm to 9:30pm) will be for those with the intent to perform. A rehearsal type program where the games and skills of the first part help to set the framework and structure for the second. The 7/9 week rehearsal will culminate into a long form improv show performing in November, where the audience will help to create a 30/45 minute show you perform! An exciting, fun journey for everybody involved.
