A Short History of The Majestic
The Majestic Theatre opened August 5, 1913 as a 1200-seat grand cinema palace and Vaudeville hall. The venue closed and re-opened in 1949 as The Varsity, and showed films and local theater productions for the next 33 years. In 1985, with the help of a public bond and private donations, the City of Corvallis purchased and restored the venue, and rechristened it The Majestic Theatre.
