Visual Arts
Policy

Majestic Theatre Management (MTM) is a non-profit, member-owned corporation, committed to preserving and operating a quality facility in a fiscally sound manner to meet the performing arts and civic needs of the community.

MTM is pleased to present to the community the works of visual artists. However, at all times, the selection and placement of visual art must support the main purpose of the facility: performing arts.

Physical Space

The Theatre has two lobbies and one hallway which serve as exhibition spaces for wall hung pieces.

Exhibit times

MTM changes exhibits each month of the calendar year. The theatre is open to the public at various times, depending on the schedule of events for the stage. The building is usually open on business days between 10 AM and 5 PM.

Publicity

Artists are welcome to submit a short story, statement or basic information for publication in the ShowTimes. Photos are welcome. Copy must be submitted by the publication deadline. MTM does not guarantee publication of show announcements. Artists are responsible for publicity through other media.

Storage

Short-term storage of work may be possible if arranged with the Majestic Operations Manager in advance.

Insurance

MTM maintains an insurance policy against loss or damage to work while in it's custody for 60% of the full selling price or the insurance value if the work is not for sale. MTM cannot be held liable for loss and damage beyond the amount covered by insurance. In addition, MTM cannot be held liable for breakage or damage occurring to a piece which can be directly attributed to structural inconsistencies, weaknesses, or design flaws. The selling price or the insurance value must be established by the exhibitor on a completed form in order for insurance coverage to be in effect. MTM will not provide insurance coverage or be held responsible for the loss or damage of work left 30 days after the close of the exhibition, or be held responsible for damage occurring in delivery.

Exhibition Installation

Exhibitors or their designates are responsible for installing and removing their own exhibitions. Work must be installed and removed during hours designated by the Majestic Operations Manager. Installation must remain within the parameters and rules given by the Majestic Manager. It is the responsibility of the installer to ask for direction about installation rules. The Majestic Operations Manager will have final authority as to the selection and placement of works within the theatre. Exhibitors must accept that at times, their works may be visually blocked by temporary standing displays set up by groups using the theatre for performing arts or civic needs. However, unless required, exhibitor's works will not be moved during the exhibit.

Sales and Commissions

Works are consigned through MTM at a 20% commission rate. Any additional commissions paid to agents of the artist should be arranged separately. Works should be priced to include all commissions. If a piece is not for sale, it must be marked NFS and a full insurance value must be noted on the consignment form.
