Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Majestic Theatre.

Majestic Theatre Management welcomes dedicated and reliable volunteers willing to meet professional standards. Volunteer positions are available in both performance-related and management-related areas. Listed below are some of the more common jobs done by volunteers. If you have other skills or training you would like to put to use at the Majestic please contact us.

Some volunteer jobs, such as ushering, concessions and most management-related positions, are scheduled exclusively by Majestic Theatre Management. Volunteers for other positions, like sound and lighting, are usually chosen by the producer of the show. Our list of volunteers is made available to these producers should they request help in finding volunteers.

A volunteer interest form is available at the theatre, or you may call or e-mail us with your name, phone number and volunteer positions you are interested in.

Performance Related Jobs

Food Concessions

• Must attend a training workshop and be available twice per quarter.
• Arrive one hour before performance.
• Prepare food concession booth for sales.
• Sell food and souvenirs before the show and at intermission. Serve as back-up ushers.

Ushers

• Must attend a training workshop and be available twice a quarter.
• Arrive one hour before performance.
• Stationed at entrances before performance.
• Stationed at entrances during intermission.
• Enforce audience behavior rules.
• Hand out programs and checks for tickets.
• Pick up auditorium floor after performance.
• Serve as back-up for concessions.
  
  Usher training is required because there are important fire and emergency procedures to learn. Refer to our newsletter, ShowTimes, for dates and times of upcoming training sessions. All training begins right in the lobby of the Majestic Theatre. Plan to arrive a few minutes ahead of the scheduled time and spend just a little over an hour for the training. Please call ahead to let us know you are coming so we have an usher handbook to give you, 766-6976 Extension #6.
  
   

Stage Lighting Technician

• Requires at least one hour training by Majestic staff in advance of day of event.
• Control the computerized light board during a performance.
• More advanced work would include designing and/or hanging lights for plays, etc.

Sound Technician

• Requires at least one hour training by Majestic staff in advance of day of event.
• Set up and put away microphones, stands, speakers, and cable.
• Control sound board during a performance.

Stage & Production Crews

• Help build sets, costumes, etc.
• Work backstage during a show.
  These people are typically recruited by each production group.

Management-Related Jobs

Daytime Lobby Reception/Information

• Computer and telephone skills and regularly scheduled hours required

Other Volunteer Jobs

• Bulk mailings
• Volunteer recruiting
• Poster hanging, distribution of newsletters and brochures
• Publicity, ShowTimes, writing or editing
• Building Maintenance
• Fundraising
• Grant writing
