The Majestic Theatre (a division of the City of Corvallis Parks and Recreation department) is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion and to creating a safe place for actors of all backgrounds to explore their craft. The Majestic Theatre staff and volunteers do not discriminate on the basis of age, national origin, race, gender, ethnic background, ability, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or any protected class.

Auditions will be held in person at The Majestic Theatre. This audition is for our youth summer theatre camp, a summer acting intensive designed for young actors ages 9-16. Youth may register for the camp before or after they audition for a role. We have space in this camp for up to 50 performers. (Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a backstage crew experience for campers this year.)

ABOUT THE SHOW

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

PREPARATION NOTES

Wear clothes and shoes (no flipflops) that are comfortable and easy to move in. For auditions, please practice 16 bars of a song that is not from the show but in the style (such as a different Disney or Broadway number). Please bring sheet music for this piece if possible; if not, something simple like Happy Birthday is fine!

There will be 10-12 students in a group, and groups will rotate between dancing, singing, and acting auditions.

Auditionees should bring a pencil, a water bottle, a lunch, a light sweater or jacket, and a bag with their name to keep all their belongings together.
