MTYP SUMMER INTENSIVE AUDITIONS: A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM

Updated: 4 days ago

For older youth ages 12-18, our auditions-only Shakespeare day camp is a great experience. Teens help choose the concept and setting of the production, learn classical theatre techniques and history, and contribute to costumes, sets, and makeup designs, all while staging a 90-minute cut of one of Shakespeare’s famous plays. They’ll also experience a smattering of basic stage combat, early modern stagecraft, and the ever-popular Blood Day! The camp culminates in a pair of weekend performances on our mainstage.

Please note: These auditions are for a summer day camp rather than a community theatre production. All participants who are cast will have to register for the camp, which costs $450 for in-city residents and $550 for out-of-city residents. You can find more information about registration here: http://apm.activecommunities.com/corvparksandrecreation/Activity_Search/46957

Scholarships are available! Click here to learn more.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Lovers, fairies, and clowns inhabit this, the most magical of Shakespeare’s comedies. With plenty of opportunities for wacky hijinks, fantastical makeup and costumes, and fun special effects, this play is always a big hit with actors and audiences alike.

ABOUT THE AUDITIONS

No preparation is necessary for this year’s workshop-style audition. Prospective young

actors can show up ready to move and have fun! Auditions will consist of warm-ups, theatre games, and cold readings. Please wear comfortable clothes and close-toed shoes to the audition.

Video auditions are available as an opinion. Email director Rachel Kohler at rachel.kohler@corvallisoregon.gov for more information.

Queen of the Fairies. Always gets their way one way or another.
