Due to our loss of incredible choreographer Jeremy Urann back to his home state of Washington, director Ruth Mandsager and her team have had to make a change with regards to their plans for the Majestic Fall 2019 musical. With the heavy reliance on dance in Hands on a Hardbody and less than a year to go before opening night, the team elected to shift to their back up show: the critically acclaimed, Pulitzer winning, and Tony bedecked Next to Normal.
Per publisher Music Theatre International, “this deeply moving piece of theatre provides a wonderful opportunity for performers to explore dramatic material and showcase vocal talents with an energetic pop/rock score. Next to Normal is an emotional powerhouse that addresses such issues as grieving a loss, ethics in modern psychiatry, and suburban life.”
While we’re sad to miss out on the joys that Hands on a Hardbody would have brought us, we’re excited to welcome this poignant, timely show to the 2019-2020 Majestic season.
