These auditions are for an amateur volunteer production of a memorized one-act show, and will be held in person at the Majestic Theatre.

SHOW SYNOPSIS

Resurrection begins in April of 2020 at the onset of the COVID pandemic. Fifty-eight year old Margaret Hartman, who has suffered from early onset Alzheimer’s since the age of 44, is living in a nursing home in Scarsdale, NY when she contracts COVID. She is taken to the hospital and placed on a ventilator. Her family has been preparing for her death, but after several weeks on the ventilator, Margaret regains her strength. When she is removed from the ventilator, she no longer has Alzheimer’s. This change brings chaos to the relationships within the family “bubble.”

FROM THE DIRECTOR, Stephanie Long

What if something good could come from COVID? This was my thought as I sat down to write this fast paced, one act play in 2020. That thought pulled me in many directions, and I realized that this play is about relationships and how they can change overnight when a catalyst such as COVID is introduced. I hope you will join us on the continuing journey to bring this play to life. We will use minimal set pieces, costumes, and props during the short 6 week rehearsal process. Memorization is required

PREPARATION NOTES

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. I am happy to send the script to anyone who would like to read it prior to auditions. Please contact me: oneofthechix@yahoo.com. You do not need to prepare a monologue.
