The Majestic Theatre (a division of the City of Corvallis Parks and Recreation department) is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion and to creating a safe place for actors of all backgrounds to explore their craft. This audition is for an amateur, volunteer production. SHOW SYNOPSIS
From the creators of the Off-Broadway and international hit musical-comedy Disenchanted!
(nominated in NYC by the Outer Critics Circle for ‘Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical’ and the
Off-Broadway Alliance for ‘Best New Musical’), comes Zazzie Sings!, the new family ‘meow’sical
about finding ones true voice. Zazzie is a jazzy cat who loves sing - and sing she does! She
holds nightly concerts in the park that sell-out regularly. That’s until Rex the Rat, the town critic,
shows up and releases a scathing review of Zazzie’s show designed to bully her into never
singing again. Zazzie soon goes on a journey toward self-confidence and forgiveness with the
help of her friends in this musical that celebrates finding ones unique voice in a world where
only the loudest are usually heard. Features 11 new songs from the award-winning writing/
directing team of Dennis T. Giacino and Fiely Matias (who got their start here at the Majestic
Theatre in Corvallis back in the 1990s).
FROM THE DIRECTOR Fiely Matias
Being born in the Philippines and immigrating to the US when I was six, I was constantly bullied,
often feeling different and out of place. Especially in school. I truly didn’t find my voice until I
found the arts in college. Finding something I loved to do was the key to building self esteem
and confidence - and that’s what Zazzie Sings! is all about. This new family musical puts forth
the notion that being ‘different’ is a gift. Being you is a gift. I wrote this musical to inspire and
encourage everyone to pursue their passion and to not let anyone, especially yourself, keep you
from achieving your dreams. As a writing/directing team, Dennis Giacino and I are excited to
come back “home” to Corvallis, where we started our theatre company over thirty years ago.
Come join our journey as part of the Pacific NW premiere in a creative, inspiring, and
collaborative environment as we workshop this brand new anti-bullying musical in which
everyone finds their own unique voice! All are welcome. Can’t wait to see you!
PREPARATION NOTES
*Prepare 16-32 bars of a musical-comedy theater song. Accompanist will be provided - please
bring a copy of your sheet music in the appropriate key.
*Cold readings - no need to prepare a monologue. Script and sides available at the Majestic.
*Wear comfortable clothes to audition; be ready to move as part of your audition.
*Open auditions are held between 6:30pm - 9:30pm. Walk-ins welcome!

the Laurel and Hardy of the animal kingdom. These twins believe they are identical but are
clearly not (ie. one taller than the other, perhaps). They do share, however, the same love of
live theater and music; they are theatrical producers. Big-hearted, giving, and always finishing
each other’s sentences.
