The Majestic Theatre (a division of the City of Corvallis Parks and Recreation department) is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion and to creating a safe place for actors of all backgrounds to explore their craft. We are particularly eager to work with artists of color and other artists from marginalized communities. All auditions are free and open to the public. This audition is for an amateur, volunteer production. Auditions will be held in person at the Majestic Theatre.


 

SHOW SYNOPSIS

As news spreads of a murder in London, a group of seven strangers find themselves in a remote countryside guesthouse. When a police sergeant arrives, the guests discover - to their horror - that a killer is in their midst. One by one, the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts.

Character Description: New owner/hostess of Monkswell Manor; anxious about hosting the inn's first guests; married to Giles for one year. English accent preferred. This role will require a choreographed kiss with one actor.

 

Character Name: Giles Ralston

Character Age: 20’s-40’s

Character Race: Any

Character Ethnicity: Any

Desired Actor Gender: Male Presenting

Character Description: Owns Monkswell Manor with his wife Mollie; somewhat arrogant and jealous of the other guests' attentions toward Mollie. English accent preferred. Thus role will require a choreographed kiss with one actor.

 

Character Name: Christopher Wren

Character Age: 20’s-30’s

Character Race: Any

Character Description: A flighty, obviously jittery young man, the first guest at Monkswell Manor. English accent preferred.

 

Character Name: Mrs. Boyle

Character Age: 30’s-50’s

Character Description: Mrs. Boyle is an imposing woman in a bad temper; she complains about everything. She is disapproving of every effort that Mollie and Giles produce to make her comfortable. English accent preferred.

 

Character Name: Major Metcalf

Character Age: 40’s – 60’s

Character Race: Any

Character Ethnicity: Any

Character Description: Major Metcalf is middle-aged, square-shouldered, military in manner and bearing. He is friendly and very polite, and serves as a good counter to Mrs. Boyle during the play’s first act. English accent preferred.

 

Character Name: Miss Casewell

Character Description: A strange, aloof woman who speaks offhandedly about the horrific experiences of her childhood. Shows a lack of trust in others surrounding her as an individualist. English accent preferred.

Character Description: An unexpected guest at Monkswell Manor, Paravicini is there only because his car became stuck in a snowbank during a terrible blizzard. French accent preferred.

Character Description: Detective Sergeant Trotter is a cheerful, common-place man who arrives at the guest house to investigate a local murder. English accent preferred.
