Call for Submissions: Alice in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass themed Artwork
A cloudless, golden afternoon on the river above Oxford.
Alice picks a jar of marmalade from a cupboard as she is falling down the rabbit hole.
She begins to cry giant-sized tears in the dark hall of doors, and notices a vial on a high shelf that says, ‘Drink Me.’
A smoking caterpillar.
A mad tea party.
Flamingo mallets.
Curiouser and Curiouser.
This upcoming April, the Majestic Theatre will summon magical, literary and artistic forces to join together to celebrate the dreamily fantastic imagery created by Lewis Carroll in his stories Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass. We welcome all artists of the Corvallis community to participate in this exhibit. We have a selection of descriptive scenes to choose from to create your piece.
Wonderland Submission Requirements
The Majestic Theatre is holding a series of community art shows centered on various themes throughout the year. We invite local artists and members of the community to drop off one work of art to be hung in our South Lobby Gallery as part of our shows. There is no entry fee or jury process. Simply bring an original work that meets the requirements below and we will hang your piece.
Artwork must be 100% ready to hang or display with appropriate hanging mechanism. We do not frame artwork.
Artwork must not exceed 24 inches in any direction or 15 pounds.
Artwork must be dropped off and picked up during the designated times. We do not store artwork.
Artwork must be accompanied by a completed submission form.
Artwork must be relevant to the theme. For Wonderland, we are only accepting works that are depictions of scenes in Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass.
Due to our limited gallery space, we will only be able to accommodate between 15-20 pieces per show, so space in the show will be based on a first come basis. Please contact Gabriela Oh and Lauren Daisley at gallery@majestic.org, if you have any questions about the requirements.
Open Call End Date: April 1st at 5pm
Submission dates: People can drop off artwork April 12 & 13, 2016 between noon-5pm
Exhibition dates: April 14th – May 30th
Art pick up date: Tuesday, May 31st from Noon-5pm
Reception Date: Thursday, April 21st from 5-8pm during the Corvallis Arts Walk.
